The Difference Between Chiropractic Care and What I Do

I hear some version of this all the time.

A patient comes in, they've seen a chiropractor before, and when they leave they say something like: "I don't even want to call you a chiropractor."

I take that as the highest compliment.

Here's what most people's chiropractic experience looks like. You walk in with a specific ache or pain. You're examined quickly, adjusted, set up on a treatment plan for two or three times a week for several months, and out the door. If you're lucky, the whole visit takes ten minutes. You're seen as a physical body with a physical problem, and the goal is to fix the physical problem.

That model works for some things. But it misses a lot.

When you come into my office, something different happens from the moment you walk in.

I start by listening. Yes, I want to hear about your physical issues, because sometimes there is a very real structural situation that needs to be addressed. But if you're dealing with something chronic, something that keeps coming back no matter what you do, I'm going to start asking different questions. About your emotional history. About your life. About the things that haven't fully been processed and may have gotten stuck in your tissues over time.

Because in my experience, chronic physical pain almost always has a story behind it.

When you're on my table, I'm not just working on your body. I'm in conversation with you. As you talk through what's been going on, I'm simultaneously releasing it physically and energetically, working the soft tissue while the story moves through you. Patients often describe leaving feeling sore, but in a really good way. Like something actually shifted.

My initial visits are 60 minutes. Follow up visits range from 20 minutes all the way to 3, 5, or 7 hour deep dive intensives, depending on how much work someone wants to do and how deep they want to go.

My personal favorite is the hour. It gives me enough time to work on the physical body, get everything aligned, and then move into the energy room for the second half.

The energy room is where things get a little harder to put into words.

When you walk in, it feels like a hug. It's calm and quiet, with clean energy and the lingering scent of palo santo. The shelves hold crystal bowls, gong bowls, tuning forks, chimes, and other instruments. There's a place to lay down and fully receive. Everything about it is designed to help you drop in.

In that space I work on the nervous system, the breath, and whatever deeper healing is ready to happen. Sometimes that's shadow work. Sometimes it's inner child work. Sometimes it's simply giving the body permission to finally rest.

This is the full picture. Not just piecing the physical body back together in ten minutes, but actually addressing what's underneath it, and giving people a real path to feeling better in a way that lasts.

I'm a chiropractor, yes. But what I do is bigger than that word tends to suggest. If you've had a traditional experience and walked away feeling like something was missing, you might find what you were looking for here.
